How to Become a Volunteer
Review the information below about different volunteer opportunities.
Click the “Get Started” button to complete your paperwork and attend an orientation.
* A conviction found on a background check will not automatically disqualify you to participate in the Hearts & Horses program, but rather is grounds for an open conversation with Hearts & Horses staff to discuss the charges.
After you complete your paperwork and attend an orientation, you will submit your volunteer background check,* attend hands-on training for your desired role(s), and then get added to the schedule according to your availability!

Individual Opportunities
Whether you have experience with horses, with kids, or just simply life, there is a position for everyone at Hearts & Horses. Both adults and young adults are welcome! If you are between 8 and 14, bring an adult to volunteer with you. If you are younger than 8, be patient…you’ll be old enough soon!
Discover the profound impact that volunteering can have on both our participants and yourself by watching this testimonial from volunteer David O.
Group Opportunities
Group volunteer opportunities are an ideal way for corporate teams, university student groups, high schools, churches and other organizations to join the Hearts & Horses community and provide unique support to our programs. To learn more, email volunteer@heartsandhorses.org or call Liv Tilley, Director of Volunteer Engagement, at (970) 663-4200.
Once you have scheduled a volunteer date with the Director of Volunteer Engagement, please make sure that every member of your group (all ages) completes the Day Visit Form below.
